On the weekend of 4/5 July 2009 WES Area 6 held their annual Summer Show at Hartpury College, Glos.

Judged by Scherie Dermody and David Brindley, the show was as enjoyable and professionally run as ever, despite entries being a little lower than normal.

SPH pupils past and present dominated the competition, held in glorious sunshine in Hartpury's vast outdoor arena.

Current Sandlin residents Seren Jolly Profit (JP) and BRS Gold Stream  (KD) had a particularly successful weekend. "JP"  was partnered by owner Frances Payne to win the Amateur and Intermediate Amateur Pleasure classes, as well as the Intermediate Amateur Trail.

Youth exhibitor Tom Nock also showed JP in Open Showmanship and put up an excellent performance worthy of a winner, but was just pipped to the post on this occasion by seasoned competitor Evelyn Dash.

KD was ridden by owner Christine Grieve, to win a strong Novice Horse Pleasure Class, as well as taking blue ribbons in youth classes with 15 year old western newcomer Faye Weston.

Hard work also paid off for Jude Wingate who won the Novice Horse Western Riding with her thoroughbred ex-racehorse, Moritat.

Bruce was partnered by JP to win the Open Pleasure class consolidating their unbeaten Western Pleasure record in WES competition. In the Open Reining, Bruce rode John McKnight's young reining prospect Tinsel Town Chex, who demonstrated her exciting potential by earning a qualifying place for the WES Nationals to be held in August.
